Call to Glory (SE005KB-$7.00) (grade 2-3)

by Ken Baird - The contemporary nature of the piano accompaniment helps give this solo a much more mature sound than most solos at this level.  Upper range only up to concert "D" with one optional concert "Eb".

Dance of the Wind (SE008KB-$5.00) (grade 2)

by Ken Baird - A perfect vehicle for the student's first solo contest experience.  Very melodic and easy to memorize with contrasting A & B sections.

Two Fanfares for Christmas (SE006KB-$2.00) (unaccompanied) (grade 4-5)

by Ken Baird - Based on "Joy to the World" & "Hark the Herald Angels Sing".  A perfect opening for a Christmas church service.  Although intended for solo trumpet, these fanfares if played by a unison trumpet choir, would provide an impressive opening (and quite a challenge) for your winter band concert.

Bb Trumpet Solos

Trombone/Baritone Solos

Call to Glory (SE007KB-$7.00) (grade 2-3)

by Ken Baird - The contemporary nature of the piano accompaniment helps give this solo a much more mature sound than most solos at this level.  Upper range only up to concert "D" with one optional concert "Eb".

BRASS

Trumpet or Horn Trio

Trio Triumphant (SE016KB-$5.00) (grade 3)

by Ken Baird - This rondo fro like-brass trio, although not technically difficult, will provide your students with a challenge to their ensemble skills.  (The horn & trombone versions should possibly be considered a lower grade 4)

Trombone or Euphonium Trio

Trio Triumphant (SE017KB-$5.00) (grade 3)

by Ken Baird - This rondo for like-brass trio, although not technically difficult, will provide your students with a challenge to their ensemble skills.  (The horn & trombone versions should possibly be considered a lower grade 4)

Trumpet Quartet

Allegro (SE018KB-$7.50) (grade 5)

by Ken Baird - Chromaticism and angular melodies highlight this very challenging unaccompanied trumpet quartet.  Only for a very advanced high school or college quartet.

6+ Trumpet Choir

Gabriel's Legion (SE019KB-$12.00) (grade 4-6[range])

by Ken Baird - Set in 6/8 time, this advanced trumpet choir is truly an exciting way to start a concert.  Composed for the 1998 Oklahoma N.S.U. Trumpet Festival, this work is a wonderful way to combine a large number of symphonic and big band trumpeters.  Written in a symphonic style, this brief fanfare is not heavy on finger technique, but demands clear, articulate playing by all and outstanding range by those playing the 1st part (at least a strong D, with an optional E & G by one player preferred.)  (Also available for Brass Choir)

Brass Quintet

Repeat the Sounding Joy! (SE020KB-$25.00) (grade 2 1/2)

by Ken Baird - Let the brass section open your next winter concert with this sparkling arrangement of Handel's "Joy to the World".

Fanfare a 5 (SE021KB-$12.00) (grade 2-3)

by Ken Baird - A well crafted brass quintet where the tuba and trombone (or euphonium) actually play a strong melodic role.  Though playable by better than average second year players, this quintet is musically strong enough to be performed by high school players and has been performed by professional quintets. (Also available for Brass Choir)

Cathedral Square (SE022KB-$14.00) (grade 4-5)

by Ken Baird - Following a stately introduction that reflects the massive grandeur of medieval cathedrals, the quintet takes off on an energetic original theme that culminates with the inspiring classic hymn.  The substantial use of multiple meters keeps everyone alert (includes a brief optional piccolo trumpet section on the 1st trumpet part).[Not compatible with the string orchestra version due to a difference in keys].

Brass Choir

Fanfare a 5 (SE023KB-$20.00) (grade 2-3)

by Ken Baird - Originally written for brass quintet, this brass ensemble features tuba and trombone and euphonium playing a strong melodic role.  Though playable by above average middle school brass sections, this work is musically strong enough to be performed by high school players and has been performed by professionals. (Also available for Brass Quintet)

Gabriel's Legion (SE024KB-$20.00)(grade 4-6[range])

by Ken Baird - Set in 6/8 time, this advanced work is truly an exciting way to start a concert.  Written in a symphonic style, this brief fanfare is not heavy on finger technique, but demands clear, articulate playing by all and outstanding range by those playing the 1st part (at least a strong D, with an optional E & G by one player preferred.)  (Also available for 6+ Trumpet Choir)
